3 SIMPLE COPY CHANGES YOU CAN MAKE BY THE END OF THE YEAR

T minus 2 weeks to New Year’s Eve, friend!

Think this is NO time to start monkeying around with your copy??

Think again. 😉

Read on for 3 simple copy changes you can make by the end of the year:

1. Check yourself. (No, really.)

Pull up your social accounts, every one of them.

Your Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest page… all the various places you currently have a presence online.

Now, take a good look at your bio on each.

  • Is there a clear statement of who you help + how you help them?
  • Does this statement appear consistently across all your various profiles?
  • Is it written in everyday terms your dream client actually uses (vs. professional in-group jargon)?

Friend, wild as it may seem, the people you’re trying to reach might never make it to that meticulously crafted website of yours.

So, you’ve gotta make damn sure that your message comes through in each and every place you’re currently representing your business.

AND don’t freak out, thinking you’ll need to sink hours into crafting your bio either!

The tidy little line that’s been sending dreamy copywriting clients my way for the past year…?

“I help health pros reach their people with words.”

Keep. it. simple.

2. Get personal (with your pronouns).

This one’s so simple that many of us miss it.

Using personal pronouns like you and your can only boost your rate of engagement!

Why? Because we process information differently when we believe it’s being communicated to us on a 1:1, personal level.

Mainstream marketing has understood this concept for decades. It’s why they’ve been so frustratingly successful at luring us in to each new advertising campaign.

And here’s the good news:

We healers + helpers can harness that same principle for our own purposes!

Comb through your website copy, social media posts, etc. + ask yourself:

  • Am I speaking directly to my dream client (i.e., using words like you + your)?
  • Where can I most easily insert these words into my copy?

want my best copywriting tips delivered right to your inbox?

YES, PLEASE!

3. Call for action (early, often + wisely).

You already know my stance on this.

Of all the simple copy changes you could make this year, choosing to focus on your calls-to-action is probably the most powerful.

But to really make them work for you, you’ll want to be sure you:

  • Display a clear call-to-action above the fold of your site (i.e., before visitors scroll down the page)
  • Scatter calls-to-action throughout your site (e.g., in a colorful button, highlighted text, clear header/footer/floating banner)
  • Craft your calls-to-action wisely: Remember the goal is to entice dream clients to take the next step towards working with you. Overwhelm + divided attention are your mortal enemies here, so beware of vague language or offering too many options! Exercise a little creativity + make it exceptionally easy for them to click. Use what you know about your own behavior. For instance, which question is easier for you to answer: What in the world should we have for dinner tonight? OR Care to join me for tacos?

LET’S TAKE ACTION!

OK, here’s your action step for today:

  • Choose 1 of the simple copy changes above + commit to making it ASAP. And then let me know when you do so I can celebrate with you!!

Cheering you on!
