3 KEY INSTAGRAM METRICS YOU’RE PROBABLY IGNORING

...and how to start putting 'em to good use!

Instagram metrics.

We’re inundated with advice about the same ones, over and over.

But, friend, this platform is SO much more than a numbers game. And if you’re willing to take a closer look at how your people are interacting with your content… you won’t believe the insights you can uncover!

That’s why I want to share 3 crucial Instagram metrics that, for some wild reason, no one seems to be talking about!  

(Oh, and no fancy tools or apps are necessary to track these. Heck, you don’t even need an Instagram business account!)

Read on for 3 important Instagram metrics you’re probably ignoring (+ how to put ’em to good use!):

WHERE TO FIND IT:

From your Instagram account, tap on your Followers count. Under Categories, you should see the heading Least interacted With. Tap on it and you’ll be shown a list of the followers you’ve interacted with least over the past 90 days.

WHY IT MATTERS:

Your “least engaged with” followers are the ones who opted in to hear from you on Instagram, but who you’ve had either no interaction with or little interaction with, relative to the rest of your followers.

This could be because they’re not your dream client… or because they simply got lost in the crowd. One way to find out for sure…

HOW TO USE IT:

Interact with them!! Strike up a convo over DM, briefly introduce yourself, whatever. But at the very least, you should visit THEIR page and spend some time engaging with the content they’re creating. This is a SOCIAL medium… right? 😉

2) Your “binge-readers”.

WHERE TO FIND IT:

No fancy tricks for tracking this one. Just scroll through the Activity tab on your account, and take note of anyone who’s engaging with some of your older posts. Those are your binge-readers!

WHY IT MATTERS:

Recent changes to Instagram’s algorithm mean your older content is much less likely to show up in your followers’ feeds.

So, when you see new comments popping up on your old posts, it can only mean one thing:

Someone’s going back and binge-reading your posts like you’re their favorite Netflix series!

And in the noisy world of Instagram, this kind of attention is truly precious. By recognizing a binge-reader for who they are, you have an opportunity to connect with a real-life superfan who’s primed to soak up all you’ve got to offer!

HOW TO USE IT:

When you identify a binge-reader, respond to their comments (even on older posts) and then follow up via DM to welcome + thank them. Invite them to take the next step to work with you (e.g., opting in for a free resource, booking a consultation call). Strike while the iron’s hot! 

3) Your “live attendees”.

WHERE TO FIND IT:

After you end a live video + post it to your Stories, swipe up and you’ll see a list of folks who attended.

WHY IT MATTERS:

I don’t know about you, but I’m a perpetual stasher of cool stuff. I save inspiring posts, screenshot Stories that catch my eye, and hit the reminder button whenever there’s a live I don’t want to miss.

But, alas… life gets busy. Things come up, and I don’t always loop back to consume the cool thing later.

That’s why it’s such a rare and awesome experience when folks turn up LIVE to learn from you on Instagram. The unique assembly of viewers + your message shared in real time + opportunity for live interaction = the kind of lightning-in-a-bottle magic that can’t be replicated!

And our followers feel the magic, too! Every time I go live, I end up “converting” new folks to my email list or paid services. Why? Because I capitalize on the momentum of their interest + I engage with them!

HOW TO USE IT:

After you go live (and you definitely SHOULD be going live, friend!), follow up 1:1 with the folks who attended. You could:

  • Shout them out in your Stories
  • DM them to say thanks for tuning in live
  • Send them a voice message asking what their #1 takeaway or question from the live was
